Whoops!!

Okay... So I haven't blogged in almost two months. I know, I know.... It's not really a blog if you don't keep it up. It's more of a thing to check out occasionally. SO... here's what's happened in the meantime.

I haven't worked out as often as I originally planned. The hubs and I went to Vegas for 10 days, where we indulged in every kind of edible debauchery available.  Yeah, it wasn't pretty... and you know that thing about "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"?? Well no one told my butt that and it brought back some poundage.

At some point during the vacation hubby said "We'll have to do a cleanse when we get back." At the moment I agreed with him. (too many vodka/diets I think) SO... we returned a few days ago and this morning he reminded me that we are to start a cleanse.

I swung by the "all natural" store today and purchased 2 10-day total body cleanse kits recommended by the nice young man behind the counter.  Plan to start TONIGHT.

I also plan to blog this. I'll keep y'all posted.

PS... I just noticed that I missed my first goal---5K by mid March.  Gotta get back on track!!!

Success Smells Like Sweat, Not Flowers

I've been doing pretty good lately. I haven't really been hitting the cardio as hard as I should,  but I've been keeping up the P90X weight workouts.  I don't think I'm losing weight, but I'm okay with that. I'm more interested in losing inches---around my waist and around my thighs.

Today I was off work for the holiday, so I had time to actually go to the gym instead of just trying to squeeze something in at home. I did AWESOME, if I do say so myself.... I walked really fast/ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I wanted to jump on the arc trainer, but all of them were taken at the moment, so I got on the elliptical. It was 17 minutes before the arc trainer was free. When I finally got on the machine I wanted, I was pretty wasted. I only did 20 minutes on it. Altogether, I burned 583 calories in 67 minutes. Not bad.

Oh, and to explain today's post title....I usually try to make sure I have on plenty of deodorant before leaving the house. I'm so paranoid about it that I usually put some on before I go to bed, just in case I oversleep and don't have time to shower, etc.... SO today I went to the gym without freshening up.  By the time I made it to the arc trainer, I was so nasty that no one would stay on the machine near me!! HAHAHA I literally saw at least 6 people come and go in 20 minutes. I could smell myself---I'm sure it was much worse to the other folks.   Oh, well. Can't make progress without sweat.

That's one Victorious Secret that's even strong enough for a man!!

Post Weekend Report

So, I totally bombed out over the weekend.... I did the workouts, but I completely didn't watch what I ate. Sunday after church, we went to Zaxby's. 3 hours later I was sick as a dog from (I'm sure) all the grease I consumed!!! At least I know it didn't stick to my hips!

I'm back on track today. I will do my P90X Workout this afternoon and I'm totally watching my diet today.

Starting out

Okay... Since this is to track our goals and progress, I will start with a list of goals I'd like to accomplish, and an estimated time frame. Then I will start tracking my progress toward meeting that goal.

Background information: I ran cross country in high school. (over twenty years ago) Since then I have been pretty inactive as far as exercise goes. I have done aerobic type exercise and some treadmill/elliptical workouts over the years, but nothing serious and no actual goals.

Goals:  My main goal is to complete (not necessarily RUN) a marathon by the time I turn 40-- May, 2013.  I know I need to set mini goals along the way to achieve this main goal.

5K-- I should be able to do this within about 2 months, so I will try to find one to compete in around mid-March. I'd like to be able to jog the full 5k.

10K-- This will take a little more working to do. I'd say maybe another 2 months, so let's set a goal to jog a 10K by mid-May.

10 Mile Run-- Whew! That just looks UGLY, doesn't it?   How about by the end of summer, 2012? Maybe by Labor Day I can run 10 miles without throwing up.

Half Marathon--- This is only 2.6 miles longer than the 10 miler, so let's set a goal of end of September. (I don't even know if there will be one in the area, but I'll try to find one.)

Marathon!!! Maybe there should be some kind of midway something in there?? I don't know. Maybe a 20 mile run?  We'll see if we can find something.   My goal is to find a marathon next spring.... I had hoped to do the St. Jude Classic in 2012, but I just checked and it's sold out. :-(

I can't decide if I'm stoked or intimidated now.....  Let the games begin, and may the odds be ever in our favor!!
